PUBLIC PROCESS
The Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society has representation on several boards:
A director sits as a member on the Regional Resource Committee (RRC) for the Cariboo region. The RRC advises the provincial government on resource use issues within the Cariboo region.
The CCCS has a Director on the provincial Cariboo-Chilcotin Beetle Action Coalition Pine Beetle strategies. A community advisory group, this task force provides advice on the region's action plan implementation. The action plan objectives are to:
- foster emerging forest-based activities,
- work to limit damage to the environment and forests,
- recover value from damaged timber and
- encourage and support economic diversity within communities affected by the beetle infestation.
On a regional level, a CCCS Director sits on the Cariboo-Chilcotin Beetle Action Coalition where the cities of Quesnel, Williams Lake and 100 Mile House work on similar issues relating to the beetle infestation.
The CCCS is also a member of the Community Arts Council, supporting the environment through artists, photographers and writers works.
CCCS has a seat on the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Invasive Plant Committee, as well as on this groups Education Sub-committee.
CCCS also sits on the steering committee managed by the Ministry of Forests & Range, Ecosystems Restoration Steering Committee, focused on grasslands in our region.
CCCS works with the City of Williams Lake, Fisheries & Oceans Canada, and the Ministry of Environment Groundwater Division, on a water conservation education program, Water Wise.
The CCCS also participates in our region's Parks management plan processes.
A CCCS representative is also a member on the steering committee for Gibraltar Mines water quality management.
