NEW: Water-wise Products in the Williams Lake area - a list

Using environmentally friendly cleaning products is very important to keep our watersheds healthy. Sewage treatment plants cannot remove all harmful chemicals found in household cleaning products. By switching to “greener” less harmful products, you are helping keep water sources cleaner for people, plants, and animals alike.

A non-profit society, run by a knowledgeable board of volunteer directors

We work within the community, with the community, to maintain and enhance the health of the environment as the basis of a strong economy and vital society. The Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society is locally based: our office is in Williams Lake, with easy access to the public.

Idyllic Lake in The Cariboo-ChilcotinHistory: Originally formed in 1992, as the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Council, to represent conservation interests of the region at the Commission On Resources and Environment (CORE), the CCCC was very involved in the development of the Cariboo Chilcotin Land Use Plan, released in 1994. Incorporated as Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society in 1996, the CCCS continues to be involved in the public process, participating in monthly meetings of the Regional Resource Board, planning processes of Park Management and Development Plans, and providing the community with presentations, displays and forums on specific issues.

Rainbow Mountains from Highway 20Goals: to promote land use and management decisions which enhance the stability, quality of life and economic viability of the community over the long term. We seek to ensure the preservation and maintenance of healthy, functioning ecosystems.

Information & Communication: We run a free ListServ to connect individuals interested in conservation issues.

    Current Projects

Support: We appeal for your support so that we can continue to provide the Cariboo Chilcotin with these worthwhile efforts to "ensure the preservation and maintenance of healthy, functioning ecosystems". Your donation may be designated for a specific project or projects (see above), or simply left to our choice of what is a current priority.
